ChaCha Out on the Town

Yesterday was our first Adoption Event with ChaCha! She was a perfect little angel. The event was held at the Baltimore Pet Shoppe in West Philadelphia. No takers, but it was a great introduction to see how ChaCha would behave out in the real world. Its been so hot, so I have to admit we have been practically hibernating inside. We have done pack walks at night, but that is in our own neighborhood. She has been on lots of car rides, but it has been to and from doctor appointments!

As we suspected ChaCha was friendly with everyone she meet - people, dogs and the shoppe's one-eyed kitty named "Winky!" She was giving out kisses left and right! To the people, kids and the other dogs she met! She was quite the charmer! ChaCha is great about eye contact and being well mannered when meeting new friends. She was so good, she got some new toys, or as we call them... new babies.

ChaCha loves to carry her stuffed toys around to show them off to everyone. She will give them up to you and then bounce over to them when you throw them. It really makes her tail wag!

Next weekend, August 11th we will be at Chic Petique over in Northern Liberties from 11am - 2pm

Wow! ChaCha is a beautiful girl! My girlfriend and I will be moving to Philadelphia in a matter of weeks. If ChaCha is still available for adoption, we would LOVE to meet her! Thank you for all that you do with animals like ChaCha; hopefully we'll be lucky enough to add her to our family :-)

The World's Greatest Pet!! Looking for her Forever Home!! ChaCha is ADOPTABLE right now:

*Birthday: Winter 2010 (Maybe?)

*Microchipped and spayed.

*Pocket Pittie/Terrier Mix

*30# of sweet, happy love.

*Easy going, silly little girl.

*Loves to cuddle, kiss and aims to please.

*Dark Brindle, short hair with white socks.

*Beautiful brown eyes that just scream I AM SO CUTE!!!

*Was found with 3rd degree chemical burns on her backside. All healed up, pigment is getting dark, but hair has not grown back yet, and might not.

*Currently she is eating California Natural Kangaroo & Red Lentils and has shown no allergy issues.

*She loves toys, and thinks everything is a toy! She needs a house that doesn't mind putting house stuff away (like remotes/shoes) when she is unsupervised.

*She has good house manners. No barking, and is relaxed when home alone.

*Kennel trained. Kennel was used during her rehabilitation while her burns were healing. Now the door is left open all the time and she sleeps inside often on her own.

*Housebroken with a doggie door. Could be trained to be on your schedule if kept regular since she is kennel trained.

*Mid energy, sweet and easy going. But has the energy to spare if you do - she loves to play fetch and chase. Would be good at a dog park or for regular play dates with other dogs.

*Very easy to walk on a leash.

*She knows 'sit' but is in the process of learning other basics like 'down', 'stay' and 'come.'

*Friendly and good with cats, but she does try to play with them. Will give space if correct by the cat.

*Good with other dogs that are socialized.

Our Pack is Why We Foster

We own our 3 story home located in Drexel Hill, PA on a 1/4 acre sloped lot. We have a large 5 foot tall fenced in area for our back yard with lots of trees and fun-dog-terrain. Petey and Blue joined our family back in 2004. Jack Bauer the housecat joined us in Dec 2010. The 3 porch kitties joined our clan early fall 2011. I work in center city and have a very regular schedule. Matt, the foster dad, works from home when he isn't traveling for work or accomplishing his mission to run a marathon in every state. We also have great dog walker/sitters through Five Paws of Delco when we need them, or if we have a foster dog that needs afternoon breaks to help house train them.

Everyone that meets our dogs says they want a dog just like Petey and Blue. So we thought, maybe we could do that!

Matt and I enjoy being the pack leaders. We have worked hard to give our dogs balanced, comfortable lives with rules, boundaries and limitations. We believe that dogs need exercise, mental stimulation and then affection. We wanted to open our home to needy dogs that could really benefit from our packs positive energy in their transition from shelter to a forever home.

Everybody Loves Blue

Blue was born in Anchorage, Alaska in September of 2004. I found him when he was named "King" at the Anchorage Animal Control Center where I volunteered. He was only 70#, as his 2nd owner had surrendered him because she 'couldn't afford to feed him'. He doesn't eat that much for a big dog, in this picture he is a healthy 100#. He has always been a calm submissive dog since day one. He is as sweet as the first day I met him!

Blue is excellent at being a teacher to other dogs with his extreme patience, huge loving heart, and fun-loving spirit! He is my inspiration for wanting to foster and teach shelter dogs how to be just like Blue.

Perfect Petey

Petey was born in Clemson, SC in late 2004 with the name "Thump". He grew up in mid-town Atlanta. Much of his history is unknown, I adopted him in 2006 from my cousin who was his 3rd owner. His early papers put him as a 'K9 mix'- I think he has some Border Collie in him somewhere, but I like to call him a 3rd+ generation mutt. He is the smartest dog I've ever had and the best walking partner I could ask for!

Petey was a very "active" young dog when he first came to us. He is toy motivated and has a remarkable ability to learn anything we throw at him! When I first became his pack leader it took about 5 miles of walking consistantly every single day to turn him into the great pet he is now. Every mile was worth it for the admiration he shows us today! ...and now he only needs about a 20 min walk a few times a week to be balanced!
